After installing Windows 7 (using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Pro disc) on my Inspiron 24 3455 desktop I need to install drivers (video, network....). I have put them onto 3 different external hard drives. I then copy them onto the computer without any problems. Once I restart I get a BSOD stating that my BIOS may not be AHCI compatible. This only happens when I insert any of these fine working external hard drives. If I don't hook-up an external hard drive I can restart the computer without any problems but I need drivers for my wired internet connection to work and many other drivers.
No, I don't have a disc with the necessary drivers but will burn them onto one if this doesn't get resolved.
Any thoughts on why the computer crashes after numerous clean installs after hooking up an innocent external hard drive?
I burned a CD and copied drivers from the CD to the desktop. After installing the Chipset driver I received the same BSOD.
Thank you for looking.
