Windows 7 ISO

Hi,

I have a Dell laptop which has bit the dust. It has a copy of Windows 7 on it which I would like to use in a virtual machine running inside my Mac OS as I have a valid license key for it. I'd subsequently like to upgrade to Windows 10.

As my Dell laptop is dead and won't boot I'd like to get a copy of the Windows 7 image. If I try to download this from the MS download site it tells me it can't be downloaded as this was shipped by another manufacturer and to contact them. However there is no facility on the Dell site to do this except via forums. I don't want to download a copy of Windows 7 from other third party sites as I just don't trust that the OS hasn't been tampered with. Can anyone tell me where I can download a valid copy of Windows 7 Home Premium?

Thanks.

My Harddrive on my Inspiron 17R N7110 crashed and had to get a new Harddrive. Where can I get the download link of Windows 7 Home Prem for my Windows product key? I get this when I try to contact DELL support:

Our records show that your Dell product support warranty has expired. We are still here for you and offer a variety of solutions, some of which are listed below.

I have a Dell Inspiration 17 running Win 7 pro. Last night there was an automatic Windows update.

Today when I turn on the computer and try to logon, there is a message "The User Profile Service service failed to log on. User profile cannot be loaded."  The computer will not run or do anything.

What can I do to correct this error and make the computer usable again?

WINDOWS 10 - Dell Inspiron 660s Tells Me There's an Update to Dell Backup & Recovery

My Dell Inspiron 660s tells me "An update is available that provides product enhancements to Dell Backup & Recovery."  I click that to download the update, and immediately get "An Error occurred during the process:  Learn More."  When I click on "Learn More," it does nothing, doesn't open any kind of window to "learn more."

As stated in my Subject line, I am using WINDOWS 10.  Is this an "important" update for Dell or can I just ignore this update since Dell's products give me more headaches than they're worth?

Any replies appreciated.

how do I bypass a password window?

I had an issue with a Kaspersky product on my dell 620 / windows 7 computer. Kaspersky Technical Support suggested  I reinstall the product. I uninstalled the anti - virus and then clicked restart as prompted.....as soon as it got to the window that asks for my password - before going on to the startup page - my mouse and keyboard froze dead...devices only work the first few moments during startup. How can I bypass the password page so I can fix the problem and get the mouse and keyboard working again.....I'd love to do a total restore on the darn thing..... but I bought it at sam's club and the computer did not come with any windows 7 disks - which tells me it has to be a referbished model. I tried to use the drivers disks, but no go. Hopefully someone here can help...... both Kaspersky and mt internet providers were a bust.

Win XP Pro and a good anti-virus - NOT McAfee

When Microsoft stopped supporting XP I switched from their included antivirus/firewall etc. to McAfee and it has been one issue after another.

I have been getting error reports from Visual Basic Error Reporting on the McAfee .exe when I do updates.

After selling me another year's subscription by phone, I called with this issue and they NOW tell me they don't support XP anymore. I hate McAfee.

Is their a good alternative.

I was told kaspersky wrote Microsoft's version.

Will removing McAfee cause me any problems?

Thanks in advance.

XPS One 2710 DVD/CD device driver missing - fresh Win7 install

I'm trying to install Win7 on a new hard drive in a XPS One 2710. The old hard drive died.

After choosing 'install Windows', I'm getting the old 'DVD/CD device driver missing' issue. But nothing I try works.

I have:

- tried to install from 2 different DVDs, and a USB stick.

- downloaded AHCI drivers, etc, and browsed to them on a stick, but it says 'no new device found'.

- tried booting from a USB drive containing Windows. BSOD after the 'starting Windows' bit.

- tried repairing Windows on a USB drive. Says repaired, and restart. BSOD.

- tried installing another HDD with a working Win7 (from a different Dell machine). When booting, BSOD after 'starting Windows' bit.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

SOLVED - it just started working........

Windows 7 and motherboard replacement

I have had constant issues with the Renesas USB3 on my Aurora R4  not working after my motherboard was updated from BIOS version A04 to A11. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers did not work, and a workaround I found was resetting the BIOS that is now ver A11 to defaults worked only for one boot and stopped after restarting. I stopped doing that workaround as it started to cause me to run Windows 7 startup repair, and I am not going to cause a potentially HD bricking problem.  So I called Dell Tech Support and after they repeated what I did before (uninstall drivers, reinstall drivers) for about two days it was escalated and the solution they gave was replacing the motherboard. I told them to let me think on it and if this is my question to you all: If the motherboard is replaced with  the exact same model could I continue to use the Windows 7 Ultimate installation that in every other way besides the motherboard USB3 problem runs perfectly? I KNOW that the BIOS update from A04 to A11 is the issue as when my motherboard ran Ver A04 I had no problems. Another reason I know that BIOS update caused this problem was that the update destroyed a working Windows 7 Ultimate installation that had perfectly working USB3.  So can I avoid reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate if the motherboard is the same model as the one currently being used?

Power Failure during win 10 upgrade - now can't activate win 7

I have a Dell Optiflex 755 about 8 years old that was running Win 7 Ultimate. Microsoft downloaded Windows 10 and I started the upgrade.  At some point we had a power failure.  When power was restored the system restored to windows 7.

But now I get a prompt that "This copy of Windows is not genuine".  I have the product key but it will not activate. I get error message 0xC004E003 "The Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed".  Microsoft says the key is valid but blocked by Dell. Windows 10 upgrade will not proceed unless windows 7 is activated.  How can II proceed?

Does the Inspiron 15 5558 support windows XP. Mine came with windows 8.1 and I really just don't like it. If XP will not work on this laptop is there a way to get the windows to look like the old XP. I'm old and really not interested in learning a new OS.

Thanks

Dual Boot changed the disk numbers of my 2 hard drives.

I have an issue with my Dell XPS 8500 and I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

My Dell came with two hard drives: SSD 256 Hard Drive on which my factory image was installed and a 2 TB Hard Drive.   Last week I was attempting to do a dual boot on my computer by installing Windows 7 on my 2TB Hard Drive. Something went wrong and both hard drives changed their numbers. The  2TB Hard Drive became Disk No. 0 while the SSD256 Hard Drive became Disk No. 1. II decided to format both hard drives with the hope that the disk numbers will change again but they didn't.  Now I can’t install my factory image on the SSD 256 Hard Drive because the factory image automatically installs itself on the 2TB Hard Drive. How can I change the disk number numbers so that I can install my factory image on the 256GB Hard Drive?

I sincerely appreciate your help. Please, help me if you can. Thanks in advance.

Safe Mode Issue

Windows 7 Home booting into Safe Mode.

Yesterday I (Win7 Ultimate) helped 'client' enable wifi on her Win7 laptop; both accounts have Admin rights. We used Remote Assistance (by email invitation) to connect. Due to bandwidth restriction, I believe, I was only able to view her screen, not directly control it. She uses a Kapersky suite. Her wifi adapter was installed and "working". I had her press the Fn+F2 combo. To verify that wifi was working on her system I had her try to print out a doc wirelessly. A prompt or two later the wireless printer driver auto-installed and the doc printed out. I led her though the sysdm.cpl disabling of RA. All appeared to be well.( The only other things done were to allow RA in the firewall and prevent Skype from running at startup).

Today she has a problem. Her system boots to Safe Mode. It's very unlikely this is a coincidence. I don't want to restore the system since this will be counter-productive. Can anyone give me a lead as to what occured so I can remedy this ?

I'm setting-up a new M6800.  I installed the Dell Backup & Recovery system.  It created an ST_Backup_Folder on an external drive (8.7 GB).  Does this contain elements that B&R uses to create or recover a backup?  I'd like to understand its function.  Any info would be appreciated.

Physical Memory Increasing - No clue how to fix it

$

Alright so here's the deal:

I restored to factory settings my computer about 4 months ago. I had a new graphic card and wanted my pc to be all clean. A new beginning.

Now it's been I'd say 1 month that my Physical Memory keeps increasing non-stop. I started by ignoring it, just restarting my pc once every 5-6 hours or so but now, it's starting to annoy me quite a bit. My pc's physical memory reaches around 84% and that having nothing open. No internet webpage, no application like Steam or such. At least not that I'm aware of. As I am writing this, my physical memory is at 76% and I only have this internet page open.

I've looked online and I was thinking maybe a memory leak? But then again, in the processor tab of the task manager, nothing seems to be taking all my memory. I have no idea. I guess that restoring my computer to factory settings would solve this but I really don't want to. Only if it's necessary. Re installing everything I have would take me a long time. Just GTA V would take me 2 days without doing anything on the computer.

If anyone out there that might have an idea of what is going on, have a fix to this, I'm begging you. I need help.

I can provide screenshots upon asked to. (Resource Monitor, Task Manager, etc)

I tried ADWcleaner + Combofix before. The problem still remains.

I have a Dell Inspiron 620. (Not the Slim one)

Here are my computer's specs:

Motherboard: DELL VOSTRO 260 INSPIRON 620 DESKTOP MOTHERBOARD GDG8Y CN-0GDG8Y
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz
