Hi,

I have Alienware Aurora R5 (Windows 10) system. Something went wrong with windows update and I could not boot Windows.

Steps taken:

1) I followed the following link to download the software:

2) I installed it in my different Windows7 laptop. After that I ran it to create Dell Recovery and Restore on a 8GB USB pen drive.

3) I followed these instructions to boot from this USB drive: (Step 2)

4) After booting I get this error:

    Protection Error: The key that you are using is either not entitled for this PC or has been modified. Please recreate the key and use it for the designated PC.

I am not sure what key it is talking about. I made sure the Service Tag used to download the software was correct.

Did anyone encounter this error before?

I hello everyone  , 

'm using a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop, operating on the latest update of windows 8.1. When I turned on my laptop today, it was acting fine. When it asked me for the password, after typing it in, my computer froze. I left it alone for a few minutes. When it didn't unfreeze, I decided to manually shut it off using the power button. The power button didn't succeed in turning it off, so I closed my laptop and left it alone for a while. When I opened it up, there was a black screen. I tried turning it on, to no effect; it almost seemed like it froze with the screen off. After a few more attempts of trying to turn it on/off, shutting the laptop, opening it again and repeating the process, it finally turned on. The  Then the Dell symbol popped up again, and beneath it, it said "Preparing Automatic Repair" with a loading symbol. After a few seconds, the screen flashed black, then the Dell symbol popped up again, underneath it there being a loading symbol and the words "Diagnosing your PC." The words then changed again to "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." After waiting two hours, I turned it off and on a few more times, hoping that it would fix itself, but to no avail. I really need to fix this as soon as possible, because I need my laptop to do homework. I haven't backed up my computer, so is there still any way to save the stuff I have saved to my computer?I chatted with MS customer care  . he told me to go for full format of my laptop . earlier boot option menu was coming. but I performed once chkdsk\r cmd on command prompt. but not I am not able to get boot option menu :-( please help me L:-( I dont have the boot CD

hello everyone

I fresh installed Windows 7 32-bit on my dell XPS m1330 and installed the drivers except 2 of them:

- PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_02091028&REV_12

- PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_02091028&REV_12

and I can't seem to find them. I already tried looking for them on google but no luck so far. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi!,

   I've just change my HD ina vostro 3550laptop and I'm trying to install all the necessary drivers.

OS is WIndows 7 Pro 64bit with no antivirus.

From the DELL website, if i try to download Dell System detect, it gives me an errore that says that it's impossible to continue 'cause application is wrong formatted.

the exact error in italian is:

I cannot boot my pc and Repair Computer hangs. I see that the recovery ISO from Dell is not available for my computer. Thank you, Dell.

But I was able to get a copy of the factory.wim file off the Recovery Partition onto a USB stick before Final Failure occurred.

Two hours later after much searching I have no idea how to use this image to restore my machine to factory settings. I even made an ISO version of the file in case that would be needed to make installation media.

Hello,

I could not find the answer so if anyone has seen it please let me know. 

I'm wondering if there are any instructions on how to reinstall fresh OS (Win 10) on a system that has Intel Optane. (XPS 8920). Whether reloading the os from scratch on the existing HDD or newly installed SSD (if optane would even apply here).  I've seen a small fact sheet from Dell indicating pairing the drive with the Optane module but no real specifics.  Has anyone done this? I checked the Intel site and it seems like quite a bit of work. Or is there an easy way to do this like a step by step guide?  

In my case I'd want to either wipe out the existing HDD and start fresh or more likely install a Samsung 2.5" ssd I have on hand as the main drive at a later time.

I have the same problem that everyone has experienced for the last 8 years.  There was an update yesterday and then my computer just comes up with the same message.  I have tried doing the diagnostics - short and long tests - which pass but do not solve the problem.  Pressing F8 does nothing to get into safe mode; F2 and F12 to change boot does not work either.  I have now exhausted all advice on all threads and it appears that for the last 8 years Dell have continued to sell laptops with a hard drive issues and never got around to solving them ever.  Should have bought an HP

I have a Dell Precision 5510 that needs bitlocker entered after each boot, unless I suspend it before a reboot

It appears that Windows 10 can't talk to the TPM fully as I only have clear TPM as an option in TPM.MSC and says it only has limited functionality.

This used to work fine for me, but I needed to reinstall Windows after some BIOS and driver updates broke things - so not sure if it's something I've done or a BIOS / driver issue.

Trying to restore to factory default Dell XPS 8700 Windows 7 using Dell Datasafe Local.  I select Restore and Factory Default and click restart.  When CPU restarts Dell Datasafe screen appears and mouse/keyboard freeze.  I updated bios to A11 (most current) and still have issue.  I made a set of recovery dvd's and have same issue.

Almost 2 years I use MS Outlook 2007. I'm not a guru, but quite usual user. Some days ago without any reason my .pst file stopped correctly opening or something like. I opened it and didn't find latest messages. I have to get it back.

If you are connected to 2.4GHz wifi, and connect a bluetooth mouse, the mouse seems to lose bandwidth, skipping around the screen when moving. If you toggle wifi off and on again, the issue goes away. If you connect the Bluetooth device AFTER wifi is connected, it works fine.

As I understand, this is a Dell-branded Broadcomm radio.

I just replaced a failed HDD and trying to install W 7 from my original W7 Dell disk on my XPS 9000 PC

The install process stumbles at "no signed drivers found, make sure the installation media contains correct drivers".

Where can I get the needed drivers, and how do i install them in the middle of the W7 installation process??

As I have no network access on the desktop, can I download the needed drivers from Dell on another pc and then install them somehow on the desktop pc that needs them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I am having the problem of Laptop slow down in between the work. when I checked the cause I found out that in my task manager it says above 95% disk usage and it sometimes hits 100% which further causes my laptop to slow down I tried to reset my OS, did troubleshoot with Microsoft guy but could not solve my issue any help would be very appreciated.

My Laptop Stats

- Alienware 17 R2

- Microsoft 10 Pro

I replaced a failed HDD on my 7 year old Dell XPS 9000 W7 desktop

I tried to restore my macrium backup file image but was not able to (Image verify failure)
Although I have the original W7 disc that came with the desktop, numerous attempts to use it to re install on the new hard drive have failed

I now must install a new OS on the new hdd. 

I recently read somewhere that I can download an iso image of windows 10 and use my 25 digit W7 key to create a windows OS on a new hard drive.

Can anyone please chime in and tell me if this is in fact possible?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 which orginally came with Vista

I have Dell Windows 7 CD .. Will it self activate ?  Will be

doing a full reinstall including a format to remove any old

remnants or personal files. Not sure if this BIOS is SLP Locked

or not. Currently Bios A02 but I can get the A09 if I need it.

Hi all, need help.

When I boot up my laptop it goes straight to windows error recovery page, we can choose start windows normally or launch startup repair. Whichever option we choose it brings us back to this screen. I have tried to run diagnostics and everything we've tested has seemed to pass. Any ideas or help it won't let us factory reset as we've tried doing that but all it take is to windows error recovery page.
