Windows 10 update corrupted Inspiron, now won't boot. Need recovery.
Inspiron 3147 upgraded to Windows 10 perfectly fine. First update from Microsoft for Windows 10 following clean upgrade resulted in corrupted Windows and will not boot. Notebook cannot be restored to original factory settings either and Windows 10 cannot be refreshed to factory settings from Advanced Recovery options. I need original Windows 8.1 Recovery USB stick or Windows 10 Recovery for this laptop. Is there any support?

Inspirion N5110 windows 7 Reinstall problem --- Drivers not found
I am having trouble reinstalling windows 7 on my Dell Inspirion N5110 laptop. This is not the first time i have reinstalled windows on this laptop and i am using the same installation CD i used last time. The problem i am having this time is that during installation i am being prompted to select drivers. I have tried to download the newest drivers but they are not recognized during installation.
Any advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated

XPS 8500, Windows 8.1, all of the sudden won't sleep
My computer with windows 8.1 is set to sleep in 20 minutes but only the monitor sleeps, the hard drive keeps spinning. It was fine for 3 years but now it won't sleep.

recovery partition problem
I found my original Systm recovery disks, and system Repair disk however they are not working.The System Recovery Disk uses Dell Datasafe. the chosen option is to run from my Harddrive and computer reboots, during the reboot to the recovery partition, right away I get problem with the boot manager: "status: 0xc000000f The boot selection failed because a required device in inaccessible" I have no problems booting from C drive.
so then I thought i should run a repair on the MBR on the recovery partition, but then I found the recovery partition doesn't have a letter assigned. This means I can't transfer missing files or anything. so main question right now is how to name the recovery partition. and any other thoughts on system recovery giving this error. should I uninstall datasafe and install DBAR? if so, do I need to start on an earlier version of DBAR and upgrade? or can I go straight to the latest version?

Windows 10 Anniversary up date issues.
After installing the win 10 anniversary update. My brand new Dell desktop will no longer install any more windows updates ? Have been having a few other OS problems since installing the anniversary update ! anyone else having problems after that update ? the update never did install ? When I run trouble shooting : 1.some security setting are missing or have been changed 2. service registration missing or corrupt. 3 Potential windows update Database error possible issues may prevent windows detected update from keeping your system up to date. 4. windows update components must be repaired. 5 one or more windows components are configured incorrectly. Anyone have a clue how can fix these issues ?

Install W7
Hi,
I am waiting delivery of 3040, it is unused but has W8 as its excess stock. I don't want W8 and don't want to pay for W10, so I want to install W7 as I have a disk & licence. Once I have installed W7 how do I install the drivers I need?
As an alternative to using my disk is it better to install an image from Dell site which I think contains W7 updates & then drivers.
Any advice welcome as I haven't done this before.

Microsoft Windows 7 recovery
My hard drive went down so i bought a new one only problem is windows came installed, Dell will not give me a copy even though I have a key, but Dell will not as it is past warranty, Microsoft will not let me download as the copy of windows is OEM. So I am a pickle of how to get a copy save paying £60 for something I already own. a Ideas? Looking for a Dell version windows 7 64 bit recovery image to download,

Windows built-in Administrator account
The hidden windows built-in account can be seen when you boot to SAFE MODE. People usually skip the setup of this account so it usually doesn't have a password. If it has one, first try to just press ENTER with no password. If that doesn't work then try using "password" or "admin".
Windows always requires to have at least 1 admin account. If you are an admin account then it is possible to delete the builtin admin account. If you are not an admin account then it won't let you delete the default admint account. (you'll need to change your account into an admin account first.

2 New Dell Desktops arrived -
Windows 7 Pro, Intel, i3
Unboxed, hooked up peripherals in shop, when I go to Windows Update, it never ends "checking for updates".
I have:
KB3135445, KB3161664, KB3168965, also WindowsUpdateDiagnostic
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to getting updates on the computer before I deliver to staff.
1.What is the working resolution to this issue?
2.Can I just depend on automatic updates to one day download and install the 200+ updates?

Winbom.ini in recents
I recently put an old computer back into service from 2007. It was from dell and *think* factory preinstalled with windows xp. There are two user accounts and an admin account. The admin account and one of the user accounts was almost never used. When I opened these accounts, I found a shortcut to winbom and sysprep folder shortcut in both admin and seldom used user account "recent" folder and they were also in recents folder from an account called "user" (guest?).
Would these files have been run by dell at factory and still in the recents folder since no documents ever get looked at on the those accounts? Or would this folder be empty?

EXCEL 2010 : Worksheet grey; worksheet names(bottom of screen: missing) WA
Running Windows 7 on Dell XPS 17 L702X laptop (shipped: 28th February 2012)
I have a financial type spread sheet containing more than 10 worksheets. I update the file 5 or 6 times per week, saving file each time ie …..fred10Jul16a…..fred10Sep16aI I have been using this spreadsheet for over a year.….
When I open any of these files the worksheet names do not appear at bottom and the worksheet itself is grey (solid) when I expected to see my actual text.
This spreadsheet is also sent through internet explorer (11) to a colleague.
The problem also shows up on email : yahoo ; SENT ; DOWNLOAD (OPEN)
The NAME BOX contains a valid cell reference (F1) and changes to valid name of one of my worksheets when clicked by mouse
This problem appears to have started around 16th September 2016.
There were Windows Updates done on 14th September
If I go into 'info' I can 'print' which shows 'print preview' which is OK
I can also do 'find' which produces expected result
This grey problem occurs on ALL the above named files (in one particular folder/library) ........ie fails on file produced in March
I have other different spreadsheets in other folders which appear not to be affected
PROLEM RESOLVED: VIEW : FULL SCREEN
The problem disappeared whenever I selected FULL SCREEN.

Logo Loop
I have an Inspiron 5548 that when I turn on it stays on the black screen with Dell logo, sounds like it is trying to load, then reboots. I can do F2 to setup and F12 to Boot Manager, but neither gives me the option to restore OS or reboot from USB. This laptop does not have a CD drive.

dell inspiron i7559 OS installation issue
Hi All,
I am facing the below error while installing the windows 7 or windows 8 OS on my Dell inspiron I7559.
"a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing if you have a driver floppy disk".
already one windows 10 OS is intalled on SSD drive. I want to install another OS windows 7 or vista on my other sata drive.
Tried to boot computer with DVD drive and USB drive but still facing the same error.
Please advice.
