Windows 7 Install
I have install Windows 7 to a Dell Dimension 4550 and No problems in loading it. The small problem I found is the Video Card worked ok but it tells me "The Screen Saver can't run because it requires a newer Video Card or one that's compatible with Direct3D." I got Geforce Fx 5700le DDR 128 Mb AGP. I have a Dell Monitor E772c. I have tried loading some of the software for this video card and still not running in 3d. The Service Tag Number is FYZ3021. This used to run windows xp and dell does not have any software for windows 7 to help me. Can anyone help me to fix this?

Broadcom Driver Help
I bought a new Dell laptop and I want to upgrade my old XPS 13 M1330 from Vista to Windows 7.
I ran the Microsoft Upgrade Analysis tool. The results were good, but for Broadcom Netlink Fast Ethernet, the tool said I should go to the device manufacturer's website, download driver, install Windows 7, then install saved driver.
Questions: Does this driver exist on the Dell site? If yes, where can I locate it? Be specific. If not there, how can I find it on Broadcom site? The Broadcom site has drivers, but not a file called Broadcom Netlink Fast Ethernet. Does it have a new name?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Any other upgrade cautions are also welcomed.

XPS 2710 - Faulty Motherboard with installation of Windows 10 - Replace motherboard and fallback to Windows 8 - Recovery CD please

With recent upgrade of Windows 10 upgrade, my computer XPS 2710 totally black out. I have been told that mother board is gone and have to replace. With the replacement Mother Board , I think I am required to re-install the Windows 8 and I think it will ask for a Product key , since it is a replacement mother board. Please advise, with the faulty motherboard, forced to replace the Motherboard. how will be go with the reinstallation of Windows 8. With so many details in the forum about the faulty motherboard of XPS 2710 just because of the Windows 10 upgrade. I am planning to fall back to Window 8 with the replacement mother board, pleaser advise.

DELL XPS 2710 -Recovery of OS - Motherboard replacement and recovery of Windows
Hi Dell Experts,
Please kindly advise on the procedure to restore the software after the replacement of mother board.
From where do I download the OS software for the newly replaces Mother board.
My XPS 2710 becomes faulty with recent upgrade to Window 10 , further research in the forum shows that XPS 2710 does not support Windows 10 config and will make the screen black out.
Only option is to replace the motherboard. Now even with the replacement motherboard , not sure how the recovery of OS softwares will be done including other softwares ? Any guide or manual to follow .

Re Installing Windows 7 to dell inspiron
I have a dell Inspiron N5110. I purchased it with windows Home Premium but I had to reinstall windows, but I couldn't back up windows and by the time of purchase I didn't get a windows 7 OS cd as well. Therefore I am unable to re-install windows although I have a product key for windows 7.
How can I obtain Windows 7 home premuim. I would be really grateful if you can help with this.

XPS 8900 troubles installing Win 7 Pro
Hey guys,
We just purchased an XPS 8900 for our sign business and unfortunately we have some legacy software we have to use Windows 7 (working with obscure vinyl printers). I cannot seem to get it to install at all. The problem is that i get through to just before the drive selection to pick which drive to format and install Windows on, it stops and gives me this error:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
This is where i am 100% stuck at.
The PC shipped with Windows 10 and bios version 2.1.0.
So far i have tried:
All installs have been tried as GPT UEFI with bios set to AHCI and secure boot off and using the USB2 port on the rear for the memory stick and two seperate memory sticks have also been tried. Bootable ISO was make with rufus 2.7

What is making me pull my hair is that WinPE can SEE AND ACCESS both the CD/DVD and the existing hard drive as well as the USB 3 ports.
I do not understand what driver it could possibily be asking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i need to get this machine running ASAP.

Optiplex 760 reinstalling Windows 7
I have an Optiplex 760 that originally had Windows Vista. I bought another Dell from a friend that had Windows 7 installed. I used it for a long time, but about a year ago, it was struck by lightning. So I used the installation disk for it, which was Windows 7, to upgrade the Optiplex 760. It worked perfectly, with no problems. About 3 weeks ago, the motherboard failed in the Optiplex. I bought another and installed it and it would not boot. I searched the forum for answers and most were the same, that using a Windows 7 OS on a new motherboard is almost impossible, and it is best to reinstall the OS. I did that last night and it works fine. But now it says my copy of Windows is not genuine and I don't know what to do. I no longer have the original PC that had the Windows 7 OS. I don't even remember what it was. How do I make my copy of Windows 7 genuine? Thank you!!

Has anyone successfully updated Precision M6500 to Win 10?
I see that Dell has very helpfully noted that my relatively "new" refurbished Precision M6500 mobile workstation is not listed as a machine that is supported for win 10 by Dell.
in fact, prior to learning this, I've tried - twice - to upgrade, only to be stuck with no internet (but a lovely interface) after the upgrade. In both cases, I tried all the solutions (regedit, drivers, etc) - all to no avail. In both cases, I rolled back to Win 7 Pro.
Has anyone successfully upgraded a Precision M6500 to Win 10? If so, how did you do it? I was hoping to find some internet protocol drivers that would I could download in Win 7, then after the upgrade, install and fix the internet problem.
...it's that or turn off the darn MS Windows 10 upgrade notification that pops up every couple weeks.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

How do you uninstall the Data Vault?
I have had my XPS 8500 for almost 4 years now. Recently on looking at my Reliability Monitor I see that there was an update from DELL that updated the Data Vault to version 4.3.7.0. I don't really know what the Data Vault actually does and have never made use of it. However since this update I am now getting short pauses and glitches when watching videos or listening to music. On searching the net the culprit appears to be the Dell Data Vault hogging the system resources briefly. I cannot find the Data Vault in my programs list nor does searching for DellDataVault.exe throw up anything. But it is listed twice in services in the windows task manager and shown as running. So how can I uninstall it?

Download Recovery Image
Hi there,
I bought my Alienware 13 R2 with Windows 10. I'm trying to reset to the factory settings (just to clean the system), but I can't. I can see the recovery partition (health) and when I tried to use Alienrespawn (that I downloaded from Dell) an error appeared during the process ('Could not replace recovery environment' or something like that).
So, I decided to download a new recovery image from Dell support website and guess what? The download is terrible slow and never finish! I'm two days trying to do that, but looks impossible to complete the download. How can I deal with that?

Reinstalling Windows 8 (or 10) after replacing hard drive
I need to replace the hard drive on my Inspiron 13-5323. It came with the factory "injected" Windows 8 on the motherboard. I subsequently upgraded to Windows 8.1, then Windows 10. With no Windows disk and no product key, how can I reinstall Windows onto the new hard drive?

Dell loaded wrong OS onto my new laptop
Just received the latitude e5470 it took me many hours chatting/speaking with Dell sales agents to acquire. In conversations with no fewer than 4 agents all looking at the same quote I asked/complained about Windows 10 showing up as the operating system and insisted I wanted Windows 7 Pro instead. Each agent, after putting me on hold to acquire information, told me that notwithstanding what I was seeing on the quote, the computer would indeed come loaded with 7 Pro and with a license to upgrade to 10.
Got the computer Friday - Windows 10 is preloaded and Windows 7 Pro is nowhere to be found.
How do I deal with this snafu?

Precision M4500 - Unable to reload Windows 7 Professional
Intel I7 CPU - Original problem was BIOS did not detect the SATA drive. I could access the drive on another computer and see three partitions under ‘Disk Management’. I formatted the Primary Partition on another computer as NTFS. BIOS now sees the SATA drive and I see three partitions when I try to load Windows. Error – “Windows cannot be installed on this drive. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. Default BIOS sets drive to RAID. AHCI gives same results. Same error when USB drive with Windows loaded on it is selected as target for installation.

Will Recovery Stick Win 7 work after upgrade to Win 10?
I have a USB Recovery Stick from Dell to reinstall the software that originally came on my laptop, including Win 7 Home Premium.
1) If I upgrade to Win 10, will the Recovery Stick still work?
2) Would I need to create new Win 10 recovery files?

Dell Inspiron 660 Recovery Partition löschen
Hallo, auf meinem PC sind 4 Primäre Partitionen vorhanden:
1. OEM Partition (Boot)
2. Primäre Recovery Partition
3. Primäre Betriebssystem Partition (OS)
4. Erweiterte Partition enthält mehreren logischen Partitionen
Mein Betriebssystem ist zur Zeit Windows 7. Ich möchte dazu parallel Windows 10 installieren, wofür ich eine freie primäre Partition benötige.
Wenn ich die für mich nicht benötigte Recovery Partition lösche, um eine primäre Partition für die parallele Installation von Windows 10 freizumachen, startet anschließend Windows 7 nicht mehr.
Was muss ich machen, damit nach dem löschen der Recovery Partition Windows 7 weiterhin wie gewohnt von der Betriebssystem Partition startet?
