i had posted earlier about a dell win 8 recovery disk that i bought from dell--- i cant get past the

product key screen  for it to install. after  being in contact with dell tech, they assure me the disk they sent matches my  computer which was preinstalled oem win 8 home 64bit. it will not allow me to install because i have no product key--they say they can  solve this if i pay them.. after talking to them they seemed to  tell me it is a software problem. there is no software besides the disk.. thee re only 3 elements involved-- the disk which they swear is the right disk(taken from my service tag) -- the blank new hard drive--and the bios/uefi---- so i am assuming there must be a setting in the bios that is keeping this OS from installing without asking me for a product key. does anyone have a clue what uefi/bios settings would keep this disk from installing without asking for a product key? all secure boot settings enabled and mode=standard--legacy disabled--boot mode uefi-- like i said--they swear this is the correct disk as i had given them my service tag--

I'n going to buy a new SSD for my Inspiron 15-7537 and want to make a clear installation of my W8 OS on the new storage. My laptop came with W8 OS pre installed and I don't know if there is some product key - and where to find it. I do not own any re-installation DVD or similar too. Is it possible to make a clear installation of the OS on the new SSD?

How can I make a bootable USB drive to start the installation? On my laptop there is no optical disc drive so I can only use a bootable USB drive. And -most important- where do I find the product key of my W8 copy?

My Dell laptop hard drive just failed and is no longer under warranty. I will install a new HD, but just discovered the Dell policy of not providing reinstallation media for the pre-loaded Win7. When I bought the laptop, I thought it was included, as was the case with other computers I had dealt with.

The Microsoft download site says to go back to the laptop manufacturer if Windows was pre-loaded, and therefore does not accept the product key written on the computer.

I  still want Win7, not Win8 or 10. I really need to find out how to get a copy of the operating system that I have already paid for, and expected to be able to reinstall as needed.

I have Windows Vista with IE9 its an old computer. It has been good for me, Now its sound like it time to get another computer because neither Yahoo or chrome after 2016 will be getting security update for there browers ? Is this right ? Like I said I need some one to explain this and what will be my options Thank You for your time

Followed the installed HELP in my Vista machine to the place where I entered the Service Tag info, and chose Audio, Bios, Chipset, Network and Video drivers specific to this tag. Created an account. And now I have absolutely NO IDEA how to download the drivers for this machine.
HELP, please.

I have modified the registry so that HideFastUserSwitching = 0

Makes no difference.

I need this button back.  No one but me can log onto this computer.

I have a Dell Studio 15 and have replaced the hard drive as the old one went kaput!

I cannot find the installation disc, how do I go about reinstalling windows without it?

Ok so first of all thanks for any replies and help provided :)

Now i have an alienware m17 with the extra ssd and i formated it qutie a while ago my problem now is first of all i didnt use the ssd hard rive (stupid me) and i have no restore or backup cd from original installation by dell. 

So what i want is help to restore my pc to its original "form" Especially the part that windows are installed in ssd hard drive and it invisible form user and no extra fiels are stored there :) 

Any specs you may need fell free to ask. 

Also where do i find all the drivers and i mean if there is anywhere i can find everything alienware commander , bus , motherboard , audio everything because after the formating i had to search and install them one by one.

I have a Dell Inspirion 24 model 3455.  I have two issues that I need help with.  First issue is that I lose internet connection every morning when I first turn on the computer.  After I restart the internet comes right up OK.  I have noticed that there is usually an event id 1014 DNS server error that comes up.  Coming from an ASUS laptop that never had this issue.  Netgear router has been up and working in all cases.  This is more of an irritation and inconvenience than anything else but I would like to resolve it.

The other issue is I started getting an update failure that started on January 22 and has continued every day since.  The update states that it is for "Hp enterprise WSD multifunction printer, other hardware-null print-HP Envy 5540 series - error Ox8024200b"  This is the printer that I have (new), however the info screen says the update was released in Dec of 2014, so I don't think I need the update, but I can't find how to get rid of it or stop it from trying to update.

I appreciate any help and/or suggestions.

I have a U3011 and I use it with my Apple Mac Pro 4.1 (OS X Snow Leopard, OS X El Capitan). I am interested in photo editing so I want the proper color  contrast and gamma.

I use the colormunky photo for calibrating the U3011 and I see that there is a also problem at contrast at any profile I choose from my Mac Pro. The two white and the two black levels are clipping (becoming the same level) that's why i am saying there is a contrast or gamma problem.

With OS X Snow Leopard, I tested my monitor with the eizo monitor test to realize that there is a problem. But when I close the test everything becomes perfect as it should be. When I open it again there is no problem anymore. Even my printing photos look exactly the same as at  my monitor look like. Unfortunately,  OS X El Capitan this correction is not possible. That's why I am asking the community because I can't do my job with OS X El Capitan. Has anyone found a solution about this ?

I cant able to install any drivers to my dell n 4030 (win 7 64 bit). it unzips the files but not installs the files. plz any solutions ..

   I bought this Dell years ago and the warranty expired. Now I'm getting errors from the hard drive that the OS was erased, got a serious virus. It only boots to DOS now, so I figure the BIOS and CMOS are working.

   Called my Dad and he told me to hit F8, then boot with Safe Mode. Had to delete the last update of Java, because that was the last change that was made on system. 

I think they put out the Update 73 and I got the first version on Monday before they found the incompatibility with Windows 7. My HP needed the update yesterday and it said to only install on Windows 8 and 8.1.

Unfortunately I first have the problem to install Vista again (has been installed before company changed it to WinXP) so that it can read the Certificate from the system (stored in BIOS or WinRegistry).

Where can I get a bootable ISO image for Vista (I found nothing in the internet that works)?

Hey there, I'm in the process of finishing up my new computer build and decided to reuse my old windows key from a dell inspiron 1546 laptop. I've tried to get the windows 7 ISO from microsofts site and even contacted their support but they directed me here as apparently dell owns my product key and they give out the windows ISO and transfer the license. I'm confused as too what i should do. Help? thanks in advance.

Hi folks

Looking for some help - not particularly technical though.

I have an Inspiron 660 which was supplied with Windows 8, but I upgraded to 8.1 and then 10, successfully. A problem (caused by me, not Windows 10) caused me to panic and, rather than use the Windows 10 Restore options, I used the Dell Backup and Recovery options (Free version), which took me back to Windows 8. Yuck.

I am now back with a functioning Windows 10, but I have a 125GB Backup folder with lots of DATA_****.inp files of 0.6GB taking up a big chunk of my C drive.

Can anyone please advise me what to do with it? 

(Needless to say, I have no intention of using the Dell Backup and Recovery option again to go back to Windows 8! I have a Windows 10 System Image Backup, and Recovery Media, so I should be able to at least get to Windows 10 again without that torture).   

Would greatly appreciate help - need the disc space.

I have reinstalled my computer. Then I wanted to use Dell System detect to find and install my drivers, but it is scanning many hours without result. I need to install all my drivers to my computer for right functionality, but I am not able to do it. What can I do with that? Where can be problem? I see this screen for a hours.

I have a dell 530s running Vista, I get the following error message after start up:

C:\users\name\appdata\local\temp\ddcBUmNG.dll  is not a valid win32 application.

This may have been caused because I used an adapter to connect the Hard drive to a 64-bit system, to see if drive was working, since the pc would not turn on, which turned out to was actually due to a faulty power supply.

How do I correct this error?

Just purchased new Dell OptiPlex with Win 7 Pro but I need Win 10 Pro.

It came with the Win 10 Pro DVD and when I boot from the DVD, it give the

- Return to Windows 7

- Troubleshoot

- Turn off Computer

screens.

Which option, I guess under Troubleshoot, do I use to install/upgrade to Windows 10?

Computer has no user program or data (just unboxed it).

(The reason for Window 10 Pro is that new software package states it will run under Win 8 or 10 but may have trouble with Windows 7.  Really?!?)

Have created USB recovery drive for the Windows 7.

Hi, Not sure where to post this.

My organization bought a dell machine with windows 7 installed quite some time ago. Upon instruction from my organization, I installed windows 10 expecting that the same key that my company paid for to work.

To our surprise, we found that the key did not in fact work at all.
We called microsoft and asked them if they could test the key.
According to microsoft, the key was marked as invalid by Dell.

Is there anything we can do about this? My organization owns both the machine and the rights to use this key. I dont see why we should not be able to use it in case of a reinstallation or an upgrade.
